The Requirement
Plan.it had been managing their clients’ (contractors) accounting and financial data manually- a cumbersome and time consuming process. Besides, their competitors had been offering online solutions to their clients. When Cohezia Digital approached Plan.it, the firm was looking for a web based application wherein contractors could enter and save their financial data. This would not only save Plan.it consultants’ time, but also allow contractors to manage their own data easily. The need of the hour for the company, thus, was to reach more efficiencies through this new online application and respond well to competitive pressures.
Technology We Used
During the analysis phase, our understanding of the core requirement was that this application needed to handle core accounting and financial data and had to be integrated with the accounting and payroll system. Using the open source PHP, MySQL and XML technologies, we built the application logic and used Javascript for storing and validating the data. To fulfill the requirements of the projects, we preferred Application Programming Interface (API) and applied web service over SOAP for transferring information.
The Result
Once ePlan-the Plan.it accounting services- was launched, Plan.it clients (contractors) could login, access and manage their data. This helped Plan.it consultants save their time, offered better reach to the contractors and brought easy relevant functionality for their usage. ePlan came with several benefits for the company and its clients. It offered 24X7 access to the contractors. The contractor could create placements, manage timesheets, manage expense details, view summaries of expenses, create and email invoices and mark them as paid after receiving payment. The contractor could also view and enter his bank account details and view his quarterly activity reports. The Plan.it consultants could generate quarterly activity reports which included details on dividend declaration sheet, corporation tax, national insurance, income tax and VAT returns. The consultant could also process payroll. In short, ePlan met Plan.it’s key business requirements and helped it increase productivity and contain costs.
