Background
Whiskies of the World is a premier annual whisky tasting event for the promotion of whisky knowledge and appreciation. The event showcases superlative whiskies from around the world and is attended by around 1400 whisky aficionados who get to meet outstanding personalities in this field. The event is owned by the IWSC Group, which is the world leader in organizing wine and spirit competitions around the globe.
The Challenge/Opportunity
When the IWSC group bought Whiskies of the World, it was a whisky festival in San Francisco, based on an old paddle steamer boat. The IWSC wanted to roll out the concept to other cities as well. With this in mind, the group wanted to launch a new website for the event and its main objectives were to promote the event among consumers, whisky makers, sponsors and to impart information about the event. One key requirement was the scalability and flexibility of the website solution, in order to accommodate and reflect any future expansions of the event.
Our Solution Approach
Our team designed and created a new website which was not only consistent with the IWSC’s several other premier events websites, but had its own distinct edge. Unlike other IWSC events, Whiskies of the World was a tasting event and not a competition. Our emphasis therefore, was on imparting information in a persuasive, comprehensive and updated manner. Our content management System (CMS) driven website solution delivered on this strategy and enabled more flexibility and adaptability for the projected increase in content volume at a later stage.
The Result
The Whiskies of the World website turned out to be an example of how a website can be a part of a group of several websites and yet look distinct. The website retained several key characteristics of being an IWSC website and yet maintained its uniqueness. With several enhanced features and customized modules, IWSC can manage the website on its own, including uploading images/videos or adding events/ content in the website. In addition, IWSC can manage pictures in banners, sponsor’s logo sequencing & management and their media galleries. This has significantly cut down its support service costs.
